Emotional. Memorable. Impactful. Every time.

Alex Atwell is an Emmy Award-winning producer, videographer, editor and educator who knows how to turn real stories into unforgettable visuals. With a quarter-century of experience and his proven “Art of the Interview” technique, Alex creates content that connects deeply and stays with your audience long after they’ve watched.

For years, Alex produced Uniquely Detroit on WDIV-TV—a weekly micro-documentary series that celebrated extraordinary people making a difference in Detroit and surrounding communities. Handling every aspect from research and interviews to filming, writing, and editing, he delivered broadcast-ready stories under the tightest deadlines.

What sets Alex apart from everyone else? In addition to his decades of experience, it is his mastery of The Art of the Interview—a signature approach that draws out authentic, emotional storytelling by letting people tell their own stories in powerful, human ways. Honed over a quarter-century in television journalism, refined through training professionals, and now taught at the university level, The Art of the Interview transforms ordinary content into narratives that inspire action.

In addition to running CameraGuyAl Productions, LLC, Alex served as a faculty member at Michigan State University, teaching 400-level Advanced Reporting and Advanced Producing. These capstone courses immersed students in every skill needed to produce and broadcast a complete weekly newscast, from story selection, shooting, writing, producing and editing, live reporting to directing and technical execution.

His production company is fully equipped with multiple professional 4K cameras and lenses, high-end lighting and sound gear, and state-of-the-art livestreaming gear—making him a one-stop resource for any of your content needs, from corporate videos, interviews, event coverage, and promotional content.

Over his career, Alex has covered major national events including the Final Four, a Super Bowl (in Tampa, but hopefully soon for the Lions!), Stanley Cup Finals, presidential visits, hurricanes, and the North American International Auto Show—always with an eye for compelling visuals that connect and inspire.

Whether producing for television, teaching future journalists, or creating custom content for clients, Alex delivers stories that resonate and results that last.
